Night of Fun

I love weekends. They are a time for me to put away the majority of my homework, forget about the daunting tasks ahead of me, and have a little fun. This weekend a group of my close friends decided to go to a movie and go bowling. At the suggestion of one of the men in the group, we should go see The Last Song. For those of you who don't know, this is a movie based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, author of the Notebook and Dear John, need I say more? To make this a cheesier movie, Miley Cyrus or as my teacher calls her, Hannah Miley (from her Hannah Montana days), was cast in the lead role. My first clue that the movie was not going to be my favorite was when we entered the theater to be greeted by a bunch of giggling pre-teen girls, and maybe a boy or two. Then the previews began. I was dissappointed to see no action-packed thrilling movies advertised in my first 10 minutes. The movie, turns out, minus all the giggling pre-teen girls, is actually not that bad of a film. In fact two twenty something year old boys admitted to "enjoying it." And my wrists were in no danger of being sliced at any time during the movie! After the movie it was time for bowling! I was so excited! Friday night was cosmic bowling, it is like Glow and Bowl, but the Duluth version. We had a larger group join us for bowling than expected so we had two lanes. As most people know, I am not the world's most talented bowler, and I get rather excited when I score anything above 65. This game of bowling I was doing so well! I was at 108 at the 10th frame. As I went to go bowl my first shot of my tenth frame, I brought the ball backward and somehow I threw the ball backwards. I was so embarrassed. Leave it to me to throw the bowling ball the wrong direction! After gathering myself again, wiping the tears from my eyes from laughing so hard at myself, I tried again. This time I got a strike! That was a little more how bowling is supposed to go! All in all, it really was a fun night!

A friend of mine suggested I start a blog for people to keep up with my daily happenings, life, interesting stories and whatnot. Problem for me is I couldn't figure out what to start writing about. I figure it might be a good idea to start writing about recent events!

This week has left me lacking in sleep and it is only Tuesday! This weekend, was incredibly fun and eventful! I had the opportunity to spend time with a friend and see my little sister at the Totino-Grace Show Choir Spectacular! Watching show choir reminds me of competing at the same competition in high school. I miss the butterflies that would go through my stomach just before the first note would hit and we would start the show! I congratulate Bemidji on this show! It is truly amazing! And the keyboardist is the best! ;)

Today in my visual and performing arts methods class we got to do yoga and play games that involved crazy movement. I love being an elementary education major!! Granted, I'm sure 20 girls and 3 guys dressed in sweatpants and socks doing downward dog and salutation poses must have looked rather funny to anyone who walked by our classroom! I hope my future students will have fun playing stretch and scribble, stop and spell, and people punctuation. Not that those were the exact names!

I am looking forward to the rest of this week, a night out with friends, dinner and new TV shows with my girls, and my little sister comes to visit on Friday!!
